- Professional and Trade Union of Medical Workers of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia POUZPČMS was founded as a professional union in 1990
- In 1991 the title was extended by addition of "trade".
- Top, middle and lower ranks of medical workers are associated in this union to protect their professional, trade union, economic, and social rights.
- The organization concludes collective agreements, and has competence to comment on laws.
- Specialist sections are formed within the POUZPČMS Educational and Advisory Centre (VPS) to support all life education of nurses for the purpose of the Czech nursing development.
